Dawson to Chicken - Part 3

Up again in the morning - one hour time difference fooled us a bit...we were in the westernmost time zone in North America...cool.

We left in search of breakfast, as A. didn't want to get out of her sleeping bag and eat in Chicken. We wanted to see what else was out there as well that might include a flush toilet...we were in for a long drive...We stopped at one restaurant that had an Open sign in the window. It was also a little convenience store and gas bar. We sat down and looked at a couple of menus, and then the guy behind the counter informed us that the cook doesn't work on Sundays and is off...WTF? Dammit, will have to wait until Canada again...we managed to find some lunch vittles at a small town just across the border...we also saw a forest fire, and heard chatter of it in the restaurant.

It was a long and unexciting drive, I have to say. The mountains were gorgeous, however did begin to blend in after seeing them for days on end. I did manage a few spectacular photos though, with my favorite being this one...

We arrived home about 6:30pm, tired and dirty. Although I do not know how A. could be tired as she slept most of the way. After a final discussion about her driving, I resumed control for the remainder of the journey. We both jumped into the shower and she headed off to the neighbor/landlady/business partner next door. A. will be staying there for a couple of weeks while the owner is away on vacation. A. will be housesitting as well as hosting for a couple of nights as B & B guests arrive there. We may be trading off depending on our work schedules. The couple of weeks apart are long-awaited after sharing this one room cabin in the woods for the past 2.5 months!

In one of the photos of mountains in the distance(one that did not upload tonight), these are the Tombstone Mountains, which are in a park on the Dempster Highway...perhaps another time. Those sharp jagged peaks are interesting...
